Emirates Launches World-First Privacy Screens in New Premium Economy Cabin
In a significant move to redefine mid-cabin luxury for 2026, Emirates has officially debuted its most advanced Premium Economy product to date. Aimed at bridging the gap between standard economy and business class, the Dubai-based carrier has introduced a world-first feature: electrically adjustable, full-height privacy screens between every seat. This innovation, debuting on the airline’s newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, offers travelers an unprecedented level of personal space and seclusion while flying.
A New Era of Personal Space
The standout feature of the new cabin is the privacy divider, which passengers can raise or lower at the touch of a button. This allows for total separation from neighbors during meals, work sessions, or sleep, providing a sanctuary-like environment that was previously reserved for higher-tier cabins. The A350 fleet will feature a dedicated Premium Economy section with 28 seats arranged in a spacious 2-3-2 configuration. Each seat is designed with ergonomic comfort in mind, offering a width of up to 20 inches and a generous 39-inch pitch.
Technical sophistication is at the heart of the design. The seats are fully powered, allowing passengers to find their perfect angle through electric adjustments, including specific preset modes for lounging and dining. Furthermore, the seats feature a unique cradle recline mechanism that ensures the backrest moves within its own shell, preventing any intrusion into the personal space of the passenger seated behind. Comfort is further enhanced by the leather U-Dream adjustable headrests and manually operated footrests.
Cutting-Edge Connectivity and Entertainment
Recognizing the needs of the modern traveler, Emirates has integrated several high-tech amenities into the Premium Economy experience. For the first time, wireless charging is available at every seat, complemented by high-speed USB-C ports. The tray tables have been redesigned to include integrated phone holders, enabling passengers to use their personal devices as a secondary screen while the main entertainment system is in use.
Speaking of entertainment, the cabin is equipped with 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreens. These high-definition displays run the award-winning Ice system, offering thousands of hours of movies, music, and television. Additionally, the new A350 aircraft provide an enhanced view of the journey through an expanded array of exterior cameras, including new side-angle perspectives that join the traditional forward and downward-facing lenses.
Fine Dining and Sustainable Luxury
The premium experience extends to the culinary offerings. Starting in late 2026, Emirates is introducing a refined selection of beverages, including the exclusive debut of Wiston Estate Brut NV, a prestigious English sparkling wine, on routes to the United Kingdom. Wine enthusiasts can also look forward to premium vintages such as the 2024 Chablis Premier Cru and the 2014 La Parde de Haut-Bailly on selected international flights.
Meals are served with a touch of elegance on Royal Doulton fine bone china, accompanied by Robert Welch stainless steel cutlery and crisp linen napkins. For those on long-haul journeys, the airline provides eco-conscious amenity kits developed in partnership with United for Wildlife. These kits are crafted from sustainable bio-based materials—including an innovative cactus-based leather alternative—and contain premium Aveda skincare products, alongside travel essentials like socks and dental kits.
Setting a Global Benchmark
The introduction of these features marks a strategic milestone for Emirates as it continues to expand its Premium Economy availability across its global network. By incorporating elements typically found in business class—such as privacy screens and gourmet dining—the airline is setting a high bar for the industry. This investment reflects a growing trend where international travelers seek a more refined and private experience without the full cost of a business class ticket. As of 2026, this upgraded product is being rolled out across all markets served by the carrier’s expanding A350 fleet.
